Service Description
The objective of this course is to bring the student to a proficient level in filming, editing, and creating a successful final project of the student's choice. Through concept planning, group discussions, screenings of artists' work, and assigned readings, the student will build the knowledge to work independently towards a final project. Learning outcomes will include proficiency with Premiere, Audition, and the student's chosen camera. The student will leave the class with a 3 minute final project which can be used in their portfolio. Session 1: Introduction to the class, introduction to Audition sound editing software, exploration of sound recording devices, screening of several artists working in sound. Session 2: Discussion of reading assignment, review of sound assignment, and discussion of basic cinematography techniques and camera equipment. Session 3: Review of filming assignment and introduction to concepts with editing and working in Premiere video editing software. Session 4: Training in cinematography techniques, discussion of concept planning for final project, screening of artists using experimental editing. Session 5: Discussion of reading related to editing concepts, training in Premiere techniques, and discussion of concept planning for final project. Session 6: Screening and class critique of final project. The seminar includes: • Readings and Watch lists: Each seminar course comes with access to a carefully curated bibliography of contextual readings, case studies and watch lists (where appropriate) will be sent to prepare you for each seminar / discussion • Assignments: Short preparatory texts or audio/visual materials are provided in advance of each weekly session, accompanied by clear guidance as to relevance and questions to be raised in the following session. • 12 hours of live instruction • Expert interviews – You will access webinar interviews with experts and artists • Video – Recording of Seminar • Presentation slides – The students can download pdf copies of the slides used • 2 platform credits
